Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st of January and was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
Sri Basu still remains extremely critical and he is on maximum ventilatory support. He is in a state of Multi Organ Failure.
He is undergoing slow low efficiency daily dialysis (SLEDD).
Ionotropic support has been increased to maintain his blood pressure.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st of January and was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
Sri Basu continues to be extremely critical and he is on maximum ventilatory support.
Last night he had a drop in Blood pressure, which was however managed by high dose of ionotropes.
His Urine output has further dropped. Slow Low Efficiency Daily Dialysis (SLEDD) is being done today.

His condition remains very critical and his ventilatory requirement has increased significantly.
His Cardiac condition remains same as morning.
He had his second dialysis today.
Ryle’s tube feeding is being continued.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st of January and was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
His condition remains very critical. He continues to be on ventilation support and his oxygen requirement remains high.
His Cardiac condition has not deteriorated further since yesterday.
His Renal functions, which had also deteriorated, received some support by Dialysis yesterday. Second dialysis has been planned today.
Ryles tube feed is being continued.

His condition is very critical. He continues to be on ventilation support and his oxygen requirement has further increased.
His Cardiac and Renal function have further deteriorated and he has been put on Hemodialysis.
He is requiring increased dose of ionotropes to maintain his blood pressure.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st of January 2010 was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
Brain CT Scan done today afternoon has shown no fresh change in the previous subdural hematoma.
He is presently afebrile for the last 8 hours.
His general condition however remains critical. He continues to be on ventilation support and ionotrops (Blood pressure stabilizing drugs).

Medical Bulletin No. 19 (On 12th of January 2010, 12 noon)
Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake and was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
• His condition is still critical and he is on ventilation.
• He has developed mild fever.
• Some adjustments have been made in Antibiotics.
• His neurological status remains same. Medical Board has suggested for a Plain CT Scan of Brain, which may be done during the day.
• His urine output is same and being supported by medicines. No necessity of Dialysis as yet.
• Ryles tube: He is tolerating the feeds.
• He may be transfused 1 unit of blood today to improve his general condition.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st January 2010 was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
His general condition remains unchanged. He continues to be on ventilation support and ionotropes ( Blood pressure stabilizing drugs). He is tolerating Ryle's tube feeding. His urinary output has been satisfactory.
A telephonic discussion was held today with the Consultant Intensivist of AIIMS who has agreed with all the modalities of treatment presently undertaken for the patient.

Medical Bulletin No 17 (on 11th January 2010, 11.30 am)
Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia. His present condition is as follows:
• His general condition: same still critical and on ventilation.
• Cardiovascular System: More or less stable, Blood Pressure maintained with minimum dose of ionotropes.
• Lungs: No further improvement.
• Kidneys: Urine output has remained same. No necessity of Dialysis as yet.
• Ryles Tube: He is tolerating the feeds.
The doctors of the medical board feel that overall there is no further improvement. The doctors are constantly monitoring him.

Medical Bulletin No 15 (on 10th January 2010, 12 noon)
Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia. His present condition is being summarized as below:
• General Condition: Marginally better as compared to yesterday but still critical and on partial ventilation.
• Central Nervous System: Sensorium is slightly better in comparison to yesterday.
• Cardiovascular System: More or less stable, Blood pressure maintained with minimum does of ionotropes.
• Lungs: Showing some signs of improvement. Infection is being adequately treated.
• Kidney: Urine output has picked up. No necessity of Dialysis at the moment.
• Ryles Tube: He is tolerating the feeds today.

His condition remains the same. Urinary output increased with medicines and his kidney function is still under watch. His Cardiac condition is same as morning. Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
There has been a deterioration in his general condition. He has developed fluid retention, drop in urine output and he is more drowsy. This signifies multiple organ involvement. He continues to be on partial ventilation support. All adequate and appropriate measures and being taken by the entire medical team.

Medical Bulletin No 12 (on 8th January 2010, 6 pm)
Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
His condition continues to be the same and there has been no significant improvement in his condition.
Hon. Prime Minister, Sri. Manmohan Singh has visited Sri. Jyoti Basu yesterday and offered the help of specialists from any part of the country. Today the medical board decided to have a Video Conference with the Specialists of AIIMS, New Delhi which was arranged by the joint efforts of the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister offices which was finished few minutes back. The Conference was held between the Medical Board of AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake and AIIMS, New Deli.

Last night Sri Jyoti Basu had an episode of irregularity of the heart beat which was treated adequately.
There has been no significant improvement in his condition and he continues to be on partial ventilation support. His vitals remain more or less same as yesterday. He is tolerating Ryle’s tube feeding.
The Medical board has decided to have a video conference with the specialists of the AIIMS, New Delhi to have their opinion if any for further management.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia.
Today, there has been no significant improvement in his condition except that his ventilation has been reduced to partial support and requirement of ionotropes (blood pressure stabilizing drugs) has somewhat reduced. His vitals remain more or less same as in the morning. The doctors of the medical board are constantly monitoring him.
Hon’ble Prime Minister while appreciating the efforts of the Medical Board offered to help us by sending any Specialist from anywhere in India as may be required by the Board.
The Medical Board members also thanked the Prime Minister for the appreciation and conveyed that they will call for the Specialist as and when required.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal who was admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake was diagnosed to have Pneumonia. His condition deteriorated yesterday morning and then he was put up on Ventilator.
By yesterday evening, Mr. Basu had shown some improvement. Today, however, there has been no further improvement in his condition. His Blood pressure is fluctuating from time to time.
Bronchoscopy was done yesterday and the findings did not suggest any change in the treatment. Small amount of liquid food is being given by Nasogstric tube. The doctors of the medical board are constantly monitoring him.

Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal, admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st January 2010 was diagnosed to have pneumonia.
Sri Jyoti Basu’s condition deteriorated early in the morning when his respiratory distress worsened and he was put on Ventilator. Other supportive measures are also continuing.
However, his present condition is critical at the moment and is being constantly monitored by the doctors of the medical board.

Medical Bulletin No. 6 (on 5th of January 2010, 12:30 pm)
Sri Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of West Bengal, admitted in AMRI Hospitals, Salt Lake on 1st January 2010 was diagnosed to have moderately severe pneumonia.
Mr. Jyoti Basu is still in ICCU and continues to receive Antibiotics and other supportive measures including liquid diet and physiotherapy.
Doctors of the Medical Board are of the view that Mr. Jyoti Basu‘s condition is stable and will remain under constant monitoring by the team of Doctors.
Next Medical Bulletin will be issued tomorrow afternoon i.e. on 6th of January 2010 at 1 pm.
